We live Lake Happy when the warmer summer nights by the lake finally arrive in Minnesota. We enjoy cooking over the camp fire often as a way to extend our time near the water. So grab your cozy sweatshirt and head outside next to the fire pit to start cooking. Here are five ideas for you to try out to make simple and yummy food to over the campfire.
- Foil-wrapped meals: You can create delicious meals by wrapping ingredients in foil and cooking them over the campfire. For example, you can create a foil packet of potatoes, onions, carrots, and your choice of meat, seasonings, and butter or oil. Close the packet tightly and cook it over the fire for about 20-30 minutes until the ingredients are tender.
- Grilled hot dogs or sausages: Grilled hot dogs or sausages are a classic camping food. You can skewer them on your favorite stick and roast them over the campfire until they are browned and cooked through.
- Campfire pizza: You can make pizza over the campfire by using pre-made pizza dough, tomato sauce, cheese, and your choice of toppings. Roll out the dough, add the sauce and toppings, and cook the pizza over the fire until the cheese is melted, and the crust is crispy.
- Campfire popcorn: You can make popcorn over the campfire by using a popcorn popper. Simply add the kernels to the popper, place it over the fire, and shake it until the popcorn pops.
- Grilled fruit skewers: Grilled fruit skewers are a healthy and delicious dessert option. You can skewer slices of pineapple, mango, and other fruits, and grill them over the fire until they are caramelized and juicy.
These are just a few things we enjoy, of course you can change these suggestions up however you like.
Enjoy the campfire and LIVE LAKE HAPPY !
